Melinda has a versatile and results-oriented approach to advising clients. Through her extensive experience, in both private practice and as an in-house attorney, she became an effective negotiator with a proven ability to balance opportunities, risks and revenue constraints. She is known for building trusting, respectful business relationships with clients and colleagues alike. Her passion for technology, and the informal, fast-paced cultures of companies focused on innovation, compliments Melinda’s flexible, creative and collaborative style.
Prior to joining West Hill, Melinda served from 2009 to October 2017 as the General Counsel of The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a non-profit independent research and development corporation with over $500 million in annual revenues. As the chief legal officer, Melinda advised senior management on all legal, compliance and governance matters.
Before joining Draper, Ms. Brown was the Vice President and General Counsel of NameMedia, Inc., an online community and domain name marketplace company. She has also served as Vice President and General Counsel of Sonus Networks, Inc., a next-generation telecommunications products company and as Vice President and General Counsel of Lotus Development Corporation, an enterprise software applications company and a subsidiary of IBM.
Melinda received a J.D. from Suffolk University and a B.A. from Wellesley College. She is a member of the American Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
